Home Bio Events Donations Scholarship

Chris had many fine qualities, but if you were to ask those who knew and loved him which qualities they valued, most often you would hear that he was kind, generous and hardworking (view Chris' bio). In memory of those qualities a scholarship fund has been set up in his honor to be awarded to an individual pursuing further education.

Each year, one or more scholarships are awarded to deserving high school seniors, college students or trade school students to help with educational expenses. The scholarship committee looks for candidates who exemplify some of the qualities Chris possessed. Below are some examples of what we are looking for:
  • Student who has had to overcome academic difficulties in order to be successful in school (not necessarily at the top of his/her class however).
  • Student who has reached outside the school environment to make a difference for others.
  • Student who has demonstrated a strong work ethic both in and out of school.
  • Student who is known for being kind, supportive and helpful to his/her friends, fellow students, and community members.

To apply for an upcoming scholarship

The scholarship committee would like to promote online applications, but applicant may, if he or she wishes, download the application (PDF) and submit it by mail (The Christopher J. Malvetti Scholarship, P.O. Box 141, Port Jefferson, NY 11777). All applications and transcripts will be shredded after review.
